CROWNS AND BRIDGES ON DENTAL IMPLANTS

Today, at our clinic, we mostly create metal-free prosthetic restorations, which are biocompatible and therefore beneficial for health, with high precision, natural appearance, and overall excellent aesthetics.

When creating bridges and crowns on implants, we take into consideration several factors that can represent a challenge and which patients need to realistically understand: some bone has been lost due to tooth extraction even though implants have been placed, and along with the bone, the previous level of the gum tissue and especially the papillae are also missing.

Therefore, sometimes with implants placed in the area of the front teeth, before creating the final implant crown, we shape and condition the gum tissue for a certain period of time in order to achieve perfect final aesthetics of both the teeth and the gum tissue, i.e. gingiva.

Prosthetic restorations on dental implants

SINGLE CROWNS today on implants are made from:

  1. either full porcelain Emax, which we additionally customize by layering porcelain to achieve a highly natural appearance
  2. or the latest zirconia, which today has high transparency and natural aesthetics. Zirconia is also individually layered with porcelain in the final layers to achieve a high level of aesthetics

Today, single crowns on implants are placed in two ways: either by placing an abutment (implant extension) and then cementing the crown onto it, or by creating screw-retained crowns where the opening in the center of the crown is later closed aesthetically with composite so that it is not visible.

When we use one option and when the other depends on a number of factors that our doctors evaluate to determine the best solution and explain these factors to you during the treatment planning.

BRIDGES ON IMPLANTS

For strength, bridges on implants are made from beautiful, modern, natural-looking zirconia individually layered with porcelain. If there is a height discrepancy due to lost bone, we compensate for it with pink porcelain so that the final teeth do not look excessively large or too long.

They are made on implants either by cementing them on original abutments (extensions) or by screwing them directly into implants, i.e. a screw-retained bridge.

Bridges that we make when the patient no longer has any natural teeth and we place 4-6 implants in one jaw, which then support a screw-retained bridge called ALL-on 4 or ALL-on 6, are today mostly made from the latest laboratory composite materials with pink gingiva and teeth, and less frequently from zirconia and porcelain because such restorations can in some cases be too demanding and too rigid with these materials.

The result of ALL-on 4 bridge fabrication is beautiful teeth with exceptional aesthetics and function similar to natural teeth, while the lack of bone is invisibly compensated with pink gingiva.
